2015 – The Year of the Rose!

From the 3rd of April to the 10th of October 2015, things will be looking rosy in Lyon!

Lyon has been famous for its roses throughout the world for almost two centuries.
So, it's no surprise that the 17th World Convention of Rose Societies chose to come to Lyon this year.
Lyon will be paying a well-deserved tribute to this superb flower and the renowned rose growers that maintain our reputation, such as Guillot, Meilland, Richardier, Laperrière and Ducher, to name but a few ... making Lyon the No. 1 centre of rose creation in Europe.

Lyon will be the Capital of the Rose from this spring until the 10th of October. The city will be organising visits of gardens, such as the rose gardens in Tête d'Or Park and La Bonne Maison, with its ancient roses, as well as displays and exhibitions in museums and libraries. But the highlight will surely be the Festival of Roses.

Exhibitions not to be missed:
"Lyon Roses" at the Gadagne Museums and "The Printers’ Garden” (Les Jardins des Imprimeurs) at the Printing and Graphic Communication Museum (Musée de l’Imprimerie et de la Communication Graphique).
There will also be two exhibitions at Tête d'Or Park, a singular exhibition on the rose in the Orangerie and a photography exhibition, "The Rose and the Wind” (La Rose et le Vent), in the Roseraie.

The Festival of Roses on the 30th and 31st of May 2015

The Festival of Roses, the main attraction of 2015, will be held in the rose gardens in Tête d’Or Park and elsewhere in Lyon.
There will be convivial and fun rose-related events all through the weekend, including rose painting competitions, gardening and floral art workshops, a rose-themed fashion show, and stands run by renowned rose growers.
At the City Hall, an exhibition of floral compositions and an "Extraordinary Rose Garden" will be organised from the 29th to the 31st of May. There will also be a firework show from the other bank of the Rhône, in Caluire-et-Cuire.
