It is a great place to do business and to meet up

Farid, 6th of October, 2011

Farid, who works at the Lyon Part-Dieu Municipal Library, tells us about the Part-Dieu business district.

Tell us a bit about the history of the Part Dieu area?

Originally, it was just greenery and large military barracks. Today, it has become the central business hub for both companies and shops. It is an ideal location for various services. There are plenty of things to see and do. It is a great place to do business and to meet up.

What makes this such a dynamic district?

It is a dynamic district because many companies have based their head offices here, and because it is both a thoroughfare and a place where people come to meet others. There are lots of shops, particularly in the shopping centre, which alone boasts no fewer than 250 stores. There are also many cafes, bars and restaurants.
The Part-Dieu library is here, which is France's leading municipal library. It hosts conferences every week.

What's the best way to get around the Part Dieu district?

When it comes to transport, it really is ideal. You'll find trams, buses and the metro. Staff from the transport company are on hand to point you in the right direction if you need help. Above all, there's the Part Dieu railway station from where the TGVs (high-speed trains) operate between Lyon and France's major cities. So getting here is no problem at all.
