From February 10th
to April 22nd
, 2012, at the Lyon Fabric Museum.
Discover a world of innovation, creativity and fashion.
Have you heard of Lurex, the synthetic yarn which perfectly mimics the perfection and nuances of gold and silver, allowing designers to work wonders?
I’m sure you have… Don’t you remember Madonna’s corset designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier back in the nineties? That’s right. That was Lurex!
The Lyon Fabric Museum brings you a small selection of unusual items made from this bold and stylish material.
This textile fibre has been making a name for itself in both Haute Couture and ready-to-wear collections since the early 1950s, thanks to Chanel, Dior or Givenchy… It is today a byword for sensuality and modernity at Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Lanvin and has been used to clothe stars such as Kate Winslet and Eva Longoria.
Come along and discover this unusual exhibition which features archive footage, front pages from magazines such as Vogue, and exhibitions of materials or reels.
Offering a combination of Hollywood-style glamour, ostentatious wealth and glimmering metallic effects of all kinds, Lurex is an amazing metal-plastic composite material like no other!
Admission to the museum and exhibition is free of charge with the Lyon City card
