From December 8th to 11th , 2011.
Get set for 4 sparkling and special days!
Combining popular traditions with technological innovations, the Festival of Light (Fête des Lumières ) is a major event in Lyon!
This year once again, Lyon will be lit up for four consecutive nights, and this year’s event looks set to be spectacular!
This free and inclusive festival is open to all!
You cannot fail to be surprised and enchanted by the so "lighting scenes" created thanks to the fertile imaginations of designers from the world over.
The most spectacular creations are to be found in the town centre where the event programme is identical for all 4 evenings
The Festival of Light highlights the town's outstanding architectural heritage, its rivers and its main monuments through a combination of fantastic scenes making use of lighting, video and audio attractions.
The continuous lighting and video effects, visual arts and creative audio features combine to help you discover the town as you have never seen it before.
Book your accommodation right away to be sure of finding a room in the thick of the action, as well as some activities to keep you entertained during the day while eagerly awaiting nightfall!
If you prefer to avoid the crowds at the end of the week, plan your stay for Thursday 8 December.
And as the Festival of Light is also a generous and originally religious festival, the Unicef will be the special guest for this 2011 event in Place Saint Nizier with the Lumignons du Coeur initiative (Candles of Hope), backed by a large number of volunteers. The money raised will be donated entirely to the Unicef.
All the programme is on the www.fetedeslumieres.lyon.fr
