The Sofitel Lyon-Bellecour: After a 7 M € investment the Sofitel is awarded a fifth star!

The Sofitel Lyon Bellecour, whose 5th star will be officialized in July 2010, has just completed considerable renovations. Among the novelties: creation of the So Fit well-being area; a revamped reception hall and Lobby Bar; the ex-Sofishop which has become the Silk Brasserie (black leather and orange velvet); and for “Les Trois Dômes” and its starred chef, white and silver have been chosen to sublimate the marvelous uninterrupted view over the city. All magnified by reproductions and applications of the famous floral patterns produced by Lyon’s weaving looms (a necessity with the theme of silk). A really magnificent success for the establishment which offers no less than 164 bedrooms and 15 conference rooms.

The NH Hotel Lyon Saint Exupéry: Lyon’s airport has become Spanish.

After a two year construction and an overall investment of 32.5 €, the NH Lyon Airport, belonging to the Spanish NH HOTELES group, opened last October. It has replaced the SOFITEL LYON AEROPORT advantageously as it gives the airport a capacity of 245 rooms (compared with 150 previously). Even if NH HOTELES are concerned above all by the well-being of their clientele (friendly atmosphere, warm colors, fitness center, a dining table with southern and Lyonnaise cuisine), they have not forgotten the primordial vocation of the establishment, which offers its business clientele 13 ultramodern areas containing 5 fully-equipped conference rooms with direct access to 7 secondary assembly rooms.

Do Mo: Franco-Japanese cuisine sets up shop in the Confluence district.

Set up in an old customs and excise building in the center of the Confluence area, the new district on the banks of the Saone, the Do Mo restaurant could be summarized as follows: two chefs with the utmost talent who test French cuisine with a Japanese accent, highlighting industrial architecture associated with the “zen” style suited to Japanese culture, a “sustainable development” approach with “latest generation” kitchens for minimum energy consumption, recyclable packaging designed especially for the occasion, and last and by no means least, the capacity to receive up to 470 people for cocktails using the main dining room and the terrace (400 people) and the 3 conference rooms with a capacity of 8 to 50 people.

Docks 40: a new concept, the “live restaurant-bar”, based in the Confluence district.

Though the cuisine is classical (traditional at lunch-time and tapas in the evening), the originality of the site is its space: a depot of 630 m² designed in industrial materials (waxed concrete and aged sheet-metal), overhung by a mezzanine adorned with large bay windows and a bar 17 meters long running along a wall of LEDs, all enhanced by a light art-deco touch. The latest newcomer to the Quai Rambaud, Docks 40 has a capacity of no less than 250 places and proposes live concerts and DJ shows until 3 am.

Valpré-Lyon: the 1st Seminar/Hotel centre in the Rhône-Alpes region to be awarded the Green Key label.

Remarkable for its environmental gestures such as controlled fluid management (water, electricity and gas), implementation of selective sorting and waste recycling, enhancement of the Valpré park, promotion of soft means of transport or even information and consciousness-raising with employees and clients, Valpré-Lyon has just been awarded the green key label for its commitment to sustainable growth and development. Much appreciated by lovers of calm and nature, Valpré-Lyon has 110 bedrooms and 15 equipped rooms capable of playing host to 300 people.
