13th Lyon Dance Biennial

Retour en avant (Past forward)
The Lyon Dance Biennial is celebrating its 25th anniversary in style with 17 co-produced creations, 14 world premieres, 9 French premieres, 42 companies from 19 countries and 168 performances.
The theme “Retour en avant” offers a look at choreographers who have marked history. A way of showing the choreographers of yesterday still live among us.
The biennial is welcoming 600 leading artists from Beijing, Helsinki, Montreal, Sao Paulo, Taipei, Ouagadougou and throughout Europe… T
his year more than ever, don’t miss le Défilé on Sunday 14 September, starting at 3pm. The biennial will also be active throughout the city, with outdoor displays and shows for all, free courses in Latin American dance at Place des Terreaux, a chance to meet the artists, and more.
From the 6th to the 30th September, let the entire city dance!!!

During the biennial there will be professional get-togethers: workshops, classes for professional dancers and dance instructors, internships, European meetings.
And of course le Défilé! Sunday the 14th September starting at 3pm, from Terreaux to Bellecour via Rue de la République.
This year there will be fifteen groups with more than 4 500 amateur participants ranging in age from 10 to 80 years, guided by 250 professional artists under the artistic direction of choreographers. The theme of the parade is "Legends of the future".

At Lyon’s Musée des Tissus (Fabric Museum)
This exhibition brings to light the magnificent history of artistic design and creation.
Many features can be seen including weaving techniques, the fascinating textile expertise used at the time, designs and vibrant colours…
The exhibition’s unique 150 pieces are in an amazing condition.
All exhibition pieces are from the museum’s permanent collection and are going on exhibition for the first time to the general public.
Discover the beautifully woven garments made from gold thread, which can’t be found anywhere else in the world because the majority were melted during the revolution to recover the precious metal.
This exhibition is a destined for everyone, whether you are simply a lover of beautiful things or a textile professional

These Italian Renaissance fabrics were made specially for the church, aristocrats and the upper class societies. The fabrics were used to make clothing garments for royal vestments, churches, etc.
From production in Sicily to those in Lucques, the intricately designed, 15th and 16th century precious fabrics were used for clothing decoration along with other things.

The Musicades, an international festival of chamber music, propose you a journey in the heart of...
• Quintets, in what they have of most generous.
• Some explorations, in what they have of most fascinating, with the Rondo cracoviak of Chopin, arranged for quintet (piano and strings) by Jean-Claude Guérinot.
• Some discoveries of rare pieces with a gifted artiste, Henri Marteau (1874 - 1934), whose talent equals only his humanism. Brilliant interpreter, recognized teacher and inspired composer, celebrated abroad and underestimated in his own country, his quintet for clarinet and strings as well as his partita for flute and viola will be given in first hearing on September 26th and 27th.
The violinist Jean-Jacques Kantorow is the guest of honour of the 18th Musicades
