Lyon was listed in December 1998 as a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
Sightseeing circuit through the 2000 years of the City’s history from the Fourvière Hill, known as Lugdunum under the Romans, to Vieux Lyon, the medieval district whose Renaissance architecture has been preserved over the centuries, and the Presqu’île where numerous private mansions bear witness to the city’s prosperity and influence in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Recall of the history of the Croix Rousse Hill, the district of the Canuts, Lyon’s silk weaver who lived and worked in modest buildings.

The circuit reveals the face of Lyon at night - lights and heritage try to outmatch each other in a concerto of illuminations inspiring awe and amazement.
Thanks to the “Light Plan” each evening more than 200 sites, monuments and bridges are illuminated creating Lyon’s nocturnal landscapes.
At nightfall the face of the town changes and light becomes an architectural element in its own right: the Opera House is ablaze with purple, the Dome of Hostel Dieu is covered with gold, the basilica is surrounded with blue-tinted lights.

Choice between Visit to Vieux Lyon, the first Renaissance district to be protected in France, its alleyways, buildings, inner courtyards, galleries, …
Or Visit to the 'Halles de Lyon - Paul Bocuse', the famous permanent covered market where Lyon’s great chefs go shopping! Introduction to oenology in the chapel cellar of Cour des Loges where you will discover wine tasting methods and the characteristics of regional wines.
To complete this “gourmet” circuit we suggest finishing with a meal at Paul Bocuse’s restaurant with the possibility of organising the transfer by boat.

 From Fourvière to Vieux Lyon
3h walk for individual visitors
Panorama on the entire city and the 500 hectares listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco, from the Fourvière esplanade.
As you go down the slopes of Fourvière Hill you have superb views over the city and its rivers.
A walk around Vieux Lyon, the first area to be protected in France, recalling the city in the Middle Ages through to the Renaissance.
Explore its narrow streets, its interior courtyards and traboules, its typical covered alleyways.

 A stroll by the river
A 4h tour on foot or by boat without a guide
Stroll freely along by the Saône to appreciate the atmosphere of its bustling and colourful arts and craft markets (on Sunday morning), the food markets on quai Saint Antoine, rich with flavours and fragrances, and finally the second-hand book stalls for those who love reading.
Take a boat from quai Claude Bernard to discover Lyon during a lunch-time cruise (departure 12.30 p.m. / return 3 p.m.)

 Shopping and culture on the Presqu’île

Walk round the Presqu’île and explore the famous “Carré d’Or” and the rues Emile Zola, Gasparin and Edouard Herriot – a concentration of Lyon’s luxury stores.
Off towards place de la République and rue de la République, in this busy, airy pedestrian precinct, the « fashion » Presqu’île with its department stores, for instance Printemps, major French and European brands and, of course, the stores that can only be found in Lyon!
Discover its architecture, the Passage de l’Argue, a retail centre with a glass roof built in the 19th century.
