Caution: some of the visits are proposed only in French.

In the heart of the silk workers' district, the Maison des canuts lets you discover the looms.

From the more ancient: the "à la grande-tire" loom, to the mechanical loom, and the Jacquard loom.

You will discover how the magnificent "brochés" and the Genova velvet were made.

Then walk through the traboules to Place des Terreaux.

These covered passageways link a street to an other.

The traboules are straightly connected to the story of the "canuts" (silk workers) at the 19th and to the silk industrialisation.
